Question about Holsters with Magnets and the 3GS

So I like to carry my iPhone in a holster because I feel it cuts down on the dust.

Question is, a lot of generic cases have a flap with a magnet.

But would a case with a magnetized flap destroy the compass or knock it out of whack?

It wouldn't destroy it, just throw it out of whack. The magnetometers used in most chips tend to be fairly sensitive to external magnetic/electrical fields, especially if the magnet is nearby.

So that means I would just have to calibrate it again each time I take it out of the holster?

No problem if that is the case.
