Sync when activating Internet Tethering

Hello,

Everytime I turn Internet Tethering ON or OFF (using the USB Cable) the phone starts to Sync with the computer... Why is this?... Can I turn that off?

In iTunes go to Preferences > Devices then Disable Automatic Syncing of iPhone and iPods
