Does it matter if I'm charging my MBP even when it has full battery and I am currently using it? I.e. using the charger instead of using the battery? My friend did this with his laptop and when he after 1-2 years tried using the laptop without the charger he got like 30-60 minutes of battery time. I don't want this to happen to my MBP.

with older batteries keeping it full via constant charging is not good for them, but doing it once in a while doesn't hurt. I'm not sure about the new batteries. I plug in the charger even when the battery is pretty full when I'm running software update.

^^ yup. mine has spent most of its 2 yrs plugged in at my desk. the battery still holds a good charge. I just have to be sure I use the battery every now and again every month...just need a little "exercise"

Laptops from around 2006 and after should be fine being plugged in all the time, as long as you calibrate once a month or so.
