Apple Releases MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update 1.2
![]() Apple today released MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update 1.2, adding support for new replacement batteries for the Late 2008 MacBook Air. Apple does not provide any additional details on these batteries. Quote:

Maybe one day they'll release an update that makes them as fast, or faster, than than the old models

A bit of a long shot...but has anyone that has the display lines issue noticed an improvement after this update?

this may just a placebo and my mind is playing tricks on me, but it immediately feels like it's running cooler and less loud! im on a MBA rev. A

My CPU temp is 108ºF right now... don't think I've ever seen it that low. You may be right.

So as much as I don't want to be that guy who installs an update and claims it fixes undocumented problems, my rev.A Air does seem to be running better.
My temp still runs really high, but while usually my laptop gets unusable if I watch flash video as the kernel_task steals all my CPU cycles right now it is multi-tasking nicely despite the flash video playing.

since the update my MBA 1.gen is constantly at arround 80% cpu usage by the system...how come, any suggestions? its kernel_task and probably the hot weather in paris which is killing my mba...sad
