I just wish Apple paid as much attention to iWork as they do iLife when issuing dot updates. It always seems like 2 or 3 for iWork and 7-8 for iLife when iWork certainly has its flaws that remain until the next major release.

Why 100MB for this amount of stuff?
I always wonder, why for two trivial bug fixes, it requires 100MB of stuff?

It's because it downloads the entire app again. You may wonder why this is necessary, but it makes the most sense. It ensures that people who have 8.0.4 actually have 8.0.4 -that all users have the exact same download. 'patching' something can lead to more errors where people have messed with other parts of the piece of software (or indeed, the piece that the patch is trying to fix) that a patch doesn't fix, or expect to encounter. For example, lets say a patch simply adds a new theme into a folder within the app. What if someone has used another app that has removed that folder? Or if something else has changed the permissions on that folder? What is the patch supposed to do? Report back it's missing? Go ahead and recreate it? Is it supposed to report a successful installation, or a botched one? This all has to be considered when writing a patch. It's much safer to simply 'reinstall' the software with the new fixes. It leads to more consistency for the userbase. I have 8.0.4 as opposed to 8.0.1 with patch 8.0.3 and 8.0.4, but not 8.0.2 etc. |

Isn't this method only for the iPhone OS?

The poster above me seems to think the same thing applies to Apple's desktop apps which i don't think is the case

I guess you could argue that this is indeed 'patching'. Note my iPhoto is 400MB large. |

Uhm, what's the problem with 100MB ........... ?? This is Apple's patch/update policy. I really don't see your problem with that. After installing this stuff on to my Imac and Macbook it starts faster then before. So it's great stuff, snappier

Wow, the only problem I had with (finally) upgrading yesterday was solved in less than 24 hours. I love Apple so much

Weird! It's not showing anything new for me and I'm still on 8.0.1
It says there is an update to 8.0.3 until i go into "software update" and it checks and doesn't find 8.0.3 or 8.0.4 Any ideas?

Hooray! I can now fly east over the Pacific Ocean in the iPhoto books. That has been pissing me off since launch - they used to show flights from SYD to LAX over Africa, Europe and mainland US...
Not anymore. Wow, it's MUCH faster. Opens in a single bounce and my 7000+ photo library just pops up. It's gooood...

Well I have filed 4 bug reports against iPhoto, as I have no feedback I doubt these have been fixed in this release.
Two of them are hang bugs, others are cosmetic. All are reproducible. |

It starts up much much quicker.
The only problem I encountered (but I'm not sure it's something permanent) is that iPhoto stalled the whole system when I exported some of my photo albums. I'll try it again now and see what happens. Edit: Tried it again and it worked perfectly. So I guess it was just a glitch.

I wonder if there are any "hidden features" like were seen in the last update to iMovie.
I can never understand why Apple has to be so cryptic about their updates. Makes no sense at all to me.

What do you mean what's the problem with 100mb? It's a huge file to download for a few fixes he is saying. Need it any clearer?....
