I'm looking to buy some noise-canceling headphones. My limit is $300 and would like to get the best I can get. I like Bose but they are like 50 more bucks 🙁. A friend recently got the Beats by Dr. Dre and they are pretty sweet and also work with the iPhone, but they only work with batteries which I guess is not that bad. What do you guys think should I just get the Beats or are there some better out there???

Thank you

PS- I would mainly use them with my iPhone and old school iPod

Why noise canceling? They are bulky and most requires battery. Get the Bose Triport Over the ear headphones. It pretty much isolates you from the outside noise.

I have the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 and love them
I know the 3's are out of your budget, but the 2's are not

I don't like earphones they hurt my ears and I don't mind carrying bulky headphones if they cancel outside noise.

Do they work without batteries and where could I buy them ebay?? I doubt Bose sells them anymore

PS- Have mercy on the Devils we don't have line

Perhaps bose refurb.

Or professional DJ closed headphones which goes around whole ears to block outside noise. They do get warmer but work great.

Wow... im surprised to see some Bose users here and some supporters as well!

I thought I was the only one that liked their sound quality as far as computer speakers and headphones goes. 🙂

Though I do think their Home Theaters are overpriced.... so I would agree with those Bose Bashers but Home Theater is not the same as computer speakers 😉

Sony Mdrnc22/Blk Noise Canceling Headphone

I've owned several pairs after accidentally losing them over and over. They're great on airplanes and lots of tight bass when you find the right earbud size. Includes an airplane adapter as well.

...I like the new apple in ear's (but got them when they were mis-marked for $37.50), I also have JVC HA-FX300's and like them alot also.

Both are just noise isolating ear buds.

When I travel, I use the Panasonic noise cancelation headphones I got on sale for ~$40 (yep, mis-marked again) as they were originally $150 for the pair...

I like the bose but they don't work with out batteries and if you run out you get stuck... but at least the QC2's use regular AA batteries where the QC3's use a battery pack.

If you really want a Noise Canceling Headphones... then I would save another $50.00 to get the Bose Quite Comfort 3.

I know they have them online for like $315 or something.

But seems like Amazon has one of the best prices for them. Look for it on google... find a place where it doesnt have tax and free shipping or something.

Apparently all the Bose haters are not up right now, but...stay away from Bose. To the OP, what are you exactly looking for...

What I'm looking for is some comfortable headphones that cancel noise and that last me a while. Also for them to work with my iPhone. I listen to all kinds of music. Why don't you recommend Bose???

Quiet Comfort 2 on Amazon

As for the Bose haters... hate away
I like my Quiet Comfort 2's

They are pretty cheap, but would you recommend saving 50 bucks and getting the Bose QC3? I don't really need them till school starts which is in mid August.

Sorry, I have not used the QC3's so I can't really say
All I know is that my QC2's are more than enough for me

There is a difference between cancelling and isolating, I recommend the latter. The former distorts sound because it produces extra waves to cancel out those in the environment, for some users it can produce white noise.

In short, Bose overcharges for what they are paying, they advertise themselves to be the "top sounding" when in reality, they are the "top advertising". There are plenty of other companies that make equal or better sounding products.

I'm more moderate in the campaign against Bose. I'm more of the, if you know what you are doing, it's your choice camp AND the it's overpriced, not garbage (except the In-Ear). Same reason I wouldn't buy Monster Cables, they aren't awful cables, but they are way more expensive then the others, but they advertise and place their products well. I've tested all of their headphones and can say few positive things about the, except that I like the Studio Beats by Dre's look and logo.

I will be the first to admit I am not a music geek or aficionado
All I know is what sounds good enough for my not-to-discriminating ear

I use the Harmon Kardon SoundSticks II on my desktop
And I use the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones

I am sure there are better... and worse
But these do just fine for me

There most certainly are....much much better.

Let me also say that its great that you like your QC2s. its a good thing.

But to me, bose is so overpriced, that it is ridiculous. With about the same about of dough, you can pick up audiophile headphones, like the denon d2000s.

Completely blow bose out of the water...
