Anyone have knowledge of Patents and how to get one?

I'm trying to find the best way to go about patenting an idea I have. All I can say is that it is a system that involves RFID and mobile devices.

I've tried researching a bit but I'm not finding anything that doesn't look kind of ... I don't know, second-rate?

If anyone knows how to go about getting a serious patent please help me out! I'll send you a check when I get rich, haha.
