Got my 17" MBP a couple of weeks ago. Just ran xbench disk test and was truly surprised:

Results 246.57
System Info
Xbench Version 1.3
System Version 10.5.7 (9J3050)
Physical RAM 8192 MB
Model MacBookPro5,2
Drive Type APPLE SSD TS256A
Disk Test 246.57
Sequential 165.88
Uncached Write 186.92 114.76 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 182.08 103.02 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 107.34 31.41 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 252.81 127.06 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Random 480.09
Uncached Write 315.66 33.42 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 333.97 106.92 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 1976.23 14.00 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 601.14 111.54 MB/sec [256K blocks]

The test was done with a computation intensive job running (99% of one CPU, not a lot of I/O) and was reproducible. However, with no job running (fresh restart), this is what I have:

What's going on with xbench? But by all means these are not bad numbers. Maybe the Apple SSD is not that bad now.

I wouldn't complain at all. Just pleasantly surprised, and also puzzled by the performance gain when there is a job running.

Judging by the sequential speed (~120/115 MB/sec), this is neither the older generation Toshiba disk (120/70 MB/sec) nor the newer one (240/200 MB/sec). Maybe Toshiba optimized their drive for Apple? The randoms are not bad neither. The numbers seem to compare well with the OCZ Vertex/Samsung/Corsair drives.

those seem like some decent numbers. I wouldnt be to unhappy with those at all.
