Duplicate Events in Calendar with Iphone 3Gs

Does anyone know how to configure the settings so that my Iphone is not duplicating events in Ical or deleting events that I put in my Iphone away from my Mac Desktop. I am sure it is an easy fix, but I cannot figure it out! Thanks
