I'm in Canada and Skype is not available in our app store. I worked around that and managed to install it on my phone.
Not to sure how it works though....Is calling over wifi absolutely free or am I going to get charged one way or another??
Thanks
i did read up on it a little (maybe not enough) but was a little confused. So who charges me then?? My service provider?
You can only make calls over wifi. If you're calling a number rather than an available skype contact who is also running the client, then you will be charged. You cannot place either type of call over a cell network.Just to clear things up a little......I am talking about calling over WIFI. I'm in Canada so no AT&T. On wifi i can call no problem.
Thanks.
I must be slow but I'm still confused.
If I am connected to WIFI and I dial a number (not a contact) through the skype app. am I getting charged??? If so by who since I have not bought any credits.
You won't get charged for dialling the number but as you've not bought any credit, the call won't go through. If you've no credit, you can only place skype calls to skype contacts, who will need to be online (showing green in Contacts tab).
if you dial a number you will get charged by skype. in order for the call to go through, you must have skype credits, which you buy before hand - like a pay as you go serviceAll calls that I am Dialing are making it through.?????
Thanks to everyone.
I get what you are all telling me but like I said I'm dialing out no problem and I have not bought any credits whatsoever. Who knows maybe there is an introductory offer going on.
Yes, but are you actually speaking with someone? If so, then as you say, maybe you've snagged an intro offer. You can check by going to your accounts page at skype.com
It must of been an intro offer because it stopped working a couple hours after my original post.
