Monitor Problem: Displaying strange colors.

I am having a problem w/ my powerbook 17in monitor. All of a sudden the colors on my monitor became messed up. My desktop began to get discolored and show patterns of box like discolorations, which would grow and darken as time went on. There was a time when I could barley read anything on my screen. Now some of the color has come back, but i am still left with box like patterns going down my desktop. Anyone heard of this? Will it get better or does it need to be replaced? thanks
 
I have never heard of this, but it sounds like something that you need to get looked at (or at least call Apple about). I would think that it's a hardware problem and if your PB is still under warranty you will just be out the computer for a couple of days. My advice is to call Apple and see what they can do for you.
