Do mkv files have metadata that you can tag like mp4s,, if so does anyone know a mac program that can

I haven't validated this and am going from memory, but I believe the .mkv container doesn't allow metadata the same was as a .mp4 does.

I'm not suggesting this as a solution, however FYI HandBrake will write some of the common MKV tags. The problem is that the UIs don't allow editing of the metadata, therefore it is only written if the input file already has metadata.

E.g. Converting a tagged mp4 to a mkv.

Maybe some day Handbrake will allow editing of these common tags.
