Using pdanet is painfully slow and it disconnects alot. Is there any way to use it without the wifi adhoc? I would like to just use the usb cable but I am on os x and there is only an option for windows. Are there any alternatives to pdanet?

I agree, I'd go with PDAnet if it allowed Mac users to tether via USB. But I guess we don't get that option. So I've been using the official carrier hack.
