hey everyone,

i have an imac and a 12inch powerbook. when i open up an movie (avi) on my imac using quicktime it works fine. when i open up the same movie on my powerbook it gives me an error saying that the required compressor could not be found. i am using the latest version of quicktime pro.

You need to download DIVX to run AVI files in QT, just go to divx.com and download the version for Mac, then when you set it up enable the QT AVI extension.

The official DivX client doesn't play some AVIs (XviD, mp3 audio track, etc.). To solve this download the 3ivx plugin. Just leave both on your system - somehow the best one for the job takes over.
