It may be problems with the one I have or with the iPod in general (if you have one please tell me if you are having some of the same problems).
The battery is messed up. Sometimes it says that it's half full then it goes to full then to empty. Also my screen freezes maybe two-three times a day...even when I only use it for about 30 minutes-1 hour. The screen may not scratch very easily but the body itself does. This scratch is from it being in my pocket....
Also it somehow got corrupted.

Any ideas what to do...I'm thinking about buying a new iPod in general...

You could try reformatting the ipod through itunes, however it is unlikely that a simple reformat is going to solve all the problems that you have stated. I suggest that you take the ipod into your nearest apple store and explain the problems that you have been having with it. Best case scenario- you get a new ipod/ get the old one repaired. Worst case scenario- you have to buy a new ipod.
