Snowleopard -- shifting from gamma 1.8 to 2.2

See http://www.apple.com/macosx/refineme...tml#systemwide

Is moving to 2.2 significant? Will this make it easier to port photos from Mac to PC and back, in terms of color correction?

it's easier in the sense that you don't have to change your display to 2.2 on your own.

Why the dislike? If we color correct the monitors, the results will look the same, won't they?

I switched to 2.2 gamma quite a while ago.

It is a lot easier to target to print using 1.8 gamma.

For what it's worth, that can also be said this way: "I have so much used to process photos with print in mind using 1.8 gamma that whenever I've tried another calibration I've failed".

I'm just not that good
