thought i would just clear this up

12.5mm drives will fit in any unibody macbook pro.

i have tested it serveral times in my old 15" unibody, when my 17" comes in i will install my super talent 512gb in it and screenshot it.

the drives fit without A problem.

Presenting information as fact when you have nothing to back it up is wrong. You need to pay attention to this thread instead of trying to start a thread that is quite misleading.

It looks like they'll fit in The Unibody Macbooks. The battery is significantly higher than the HDD, and I'm sure a 12.5mm drive would fit in there.

Im pretty sure they'll fit the following Machines:

-Macbook 13" Unibody
-Macbook Pro Unibody 15" With removable Battery
-Macbook Pro 17" - Any Model Unibody

right,

my macbook pro 15" was a non-removable battery and it fits fine.

moving on

Right , so basically you're stating your opinion which is totally lacking any proof. Right.
Buyer beware, never trust a kid on MR who can't back up what she/he says.

"The thing that I found is that this is the only laptop that can fit new 500GB SATA laptop drives which are thicker (12.5mm) than standard 250GB laptop drive (9.5mm). So I managed to easily upgrade mine to 500GB 5400rpm Hitachi laptop drive."

Sure, they're not from official publications but they are users who have played with the HDD size and it does fit. Sure, anyone could be telling a lie, but I don't see why someone would mislead another in buying a HDD that won't fit. I found 3 that say it works and ton of other that questions if it will not state that it won't fit so I will go with saying, yeah it will fit.

thanks

its discouraging when people call others out who think everyone is lying.

but either way they will work in any unibody with removable battery or not....anyone with a measuring tape can find that out.

It does not make me wrong, I never actually disputed it, I only pointed you in a direction that would lead me to believe otherwise. Read the posts again.
Had you mentioned anything of the sort (you work on macs, you're awesome, you know because ...) then perhaps it would look a bit better. But no, you come here with this paper hammer with nothing to hit.
Trust me, had this thread been started by anyone else who speaks in fact when they're more along the lines of opinion, you too would be doing the same. I think I've seen it happen actually. ;)

Get a life? Pot meet kettle. :) And if you trust someone based on a 75x75px image then you're slightly insane. Besides, you touch yours ... what is wrong with my cat licking his?

I guess I'll add to MacModMachine...

See, that wasn't so hard! :)

slightly insane is picking apart a thread like a detective....

Bah. I didn't really say anything, I just tried to pull information to help those and I did. If people still don't want to trust it, that's fine. I laid the information there if you don't want it go get a ruler or caliper to do the measuring yourself and come to your own conclusion, that's fine. But 3 users saying it fits and actually tried and were successful rather than just saying "yes it fits" is pretty hard to ignore. But whatever, don't know why people get so worked up for nothing...
