Someone explain to me why we need a Coke with 1/2 the carbs.

Hint: Just drink half as much and you'll get half the carbs.

I thought people drink SODA for the sugar. (I know I do).

Haven't they seen "Super Size Me"?

I guess if I can buy a can of half caffeinated/half decaf coffee at the grocery store, then I can buy this.

If I were worried about carbs/calories, why would I drink this crap or any other soda. I thought that's the reason for diet soft drinks.

Because diet soda tastes like ass. I've tried the C2. It's not bad. Not as good as regular coke, but better than diet. Which I guess was the point.

They'd never sell a 6 ounce soda for a reasonable price. Notice the old school coke bottles (8 ounce) cost $3.99 for a sixer. They want us to consume more. That is why 20 ouncers are suddenly getting replaced with 24 ouncers.

If C2 has 1/2 the carbs, Joe Half-Breed will say "Ahhh, now I can have 2." And 2 is ALWAYS better than one for most people.

I've bought it and I'll buy it again
for years diet coke has been a poor facsimile of the original
and most diet sodas in general, tab excluded, taste like butt
now with c2 semi diet coke tastes semi like coke
pretty close in fact
and it doesnt make me sick or gag because it is overly sweet

Maybe the "half the carbs" cola is an attempt to crack into the Atkins diet market. Everyone seems to be either wildly pursuing it or selling the story of how it ruined their life. So it's possibly a lucrative market for them....

That said, I think you still have to avoid it for the caffeine, sugar, concentrated wholesome American goodness and enough chemical additive to make schoolchildren contract 'ADHD' almost instantaneously...

One word: money. It's just another way to sucker fad dieters out of their money. Coke is just hopping onto the low carb bandwagon like everyone else.

People would be better served if Coke would just cut the amount of sugar instead of "inventing" a new product to sell to the Atkins crowd.

They would get SO much more publicity and positive coverage if they announced, "To help in the war against obesity in the US, Coca-Cola has decided to reduce the amount of sugar, carbohydrates, and calories in Coke yada, yada, yada."

Granted this will never EVER happen. It would be like admitting Coke is bad for you. Anyway, I'm getting thirsty.

Oh hell. But I bet they could reduce the sugar level to a point and people wouldn't notice the difference. Just do it gradually over time.

I tend to agree with the jsw. To be more precise, what does ass taste like? (rhetorical question, I don't really want to know details of your private life) I've never tried it.

I've tried C2. I didn't like it.

There are some people who can't stand the taste of diet and don't want the calories of regular; this is a decent compromise. I mean, it doesn't appeal to me, but more options are good, right? Sure it's a marketing technique for Coke, but I don't see it as a bad thing for consumers...

Sorry. I didn't know it was even out yet. I have not seen it here in central/northern Minnesota. Then again, we aren't known for counting our calories up here.

It’s in southern MN. I went for a trip down to St. Peter last weekend and saw it in several grocery stores. Didn't bother though. I'm over weight but I refuse to screw my body over even more with Atkins.
