How to block gifs in safari?

I visit fourms frequently, which often have animated gifs and it freezes safari every time (since the new safari). Anyway to simply block the gifs from safari?

thanks.

I've wondered the same..

Safari is horrendously bad at managing gifs for some reason.. Hopefully they'll just fix that, and I won't have to block them..

Might be worth giving this add-on a try that is free, you can block Flash as well if that's a problem as well:
