Is .Spotlight-V100 safe to remove?

.Spotlight-V100

Is that folder safe to remove. I understand it is the Spotlight index, but I want to completely remove the index and re-index. So, is it safe to remove? Thanks.

Force empty using Option.

I normally do it via Terminal using rm.
