Hi.

Brand new ATV with latest Firmware, 500Gb of non DRM Content ripped with HB on External HD attached to iMac with latest iTunes Version.

ATV is hooked up wirelessly to my network. Transfering movies to it works flawlessly, however when I try to stream I get the message:

The selected video could not be played. The format was not recognized.

If I sync the very same file and play it on ATV it works perfectly?

Ive done a search through Google and Here and found scattered reports with the same consistent problem for at least 2 yrs back... No real solution, besides the usual close itunes and reopen or restart atv etc etc etc

Does anyone have any better answer?

Thanks

That error doesn't actually mean it can't recogoze the file. It cam also (more often) mean it can't find the file. It happens if Apple TV drops off the network. That's a common problem with any number of possible solutions.
