I'm loving my new 12" Powerbook, but I'm looking to fill up its RAM a little bit. I'm hunting for a Mac-friendly 512MB SO-DIMM here in Toronto, Canada.
I've found a dealer selling Shikatronics RAM for $229.99 (CDN) (www.mostlymac.com). Looking at the Shikatronics website (www.shikatronics.com), it seems like their RAM is manufactured right here in Canada (Montreal)! They also have an Apple-specific section on their website, so hopefully this would be a safe choice (I hear the Powerbooks are picky about RAM)?
Another option is Canada Computers (www.canadacomputers.com) - they advertise a 512MB stick of Kingmax RAM for only $142. I'm a little less comfortable about this manufacturer, especially since the store that's selling it is notoriously tough about returns/exchanges. If it doesn't work in my Powerbook, I'm stuck with it!
Anyways, I was just wondering if any Powerbook owners are using Shikatronics RAM with no problems. How about Kingmax? Also, if I do purchase new RAM, what's the best way to go about testing it for errors? Thanks a ton!
