Creating animated buddy icon?

Does anyone know how to create an animated buddy icon for AIM? I'm sure it's the same as an animated avatar, but I don't know how to make that. What programs/icon sizes would I have to use?
 
To start you need to create a series of gif files. Once you make the series of images you wish to amimate, you need a program to stitch them together. I recommend GIFBuilder. You can download it here ( http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/235 ). As far as size goes, I'm not sure about exact requirements, but my aim one is 120 x 120.
