I have noticed that 64-bit applications in 10.6 are much fussier about the supported keyboard layout. My Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard layout is not selectable in any 64-bit application, but works fine in 32bit apps.

This is very annoying. Does anyone have a clue how / why OS X is discriminating here, and how I might fix this?

Do I need a 64bit MS keyboard driver?

Curiouser and curiouser.

If you install custom keylayout files via ukelele then these keyboard layouts work in 64bit but not 32bit apps!!!

Still, this does allow for a compromise solution....

Hopefully this will be ironed out by 10.6.1
