CrunchGear reports that invitations for Apple's September 9th media event have been issued. Apple has chosen "It's only rock and roll, but we like it," a take on the Rolling Stones song "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)," as the tag line for the event.

The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, the site of several previous Apple September media events.

The date of the event was first pinpointed two weeks ago, following an earlier report that the event would be scheduled for some time on the week of September 7th.

haha, I guess they thought people would be looking for a Beatles theme. They went with the better band!

(love them both really)

64 Bit iTunes please.

OK, so all music stuff, new iPods, iTunes update, etc.

Can we stop with the tablet rumors for this event now?

Surprise. Surprise.

The big question is will this mark the return of Steve Jobs? Let's hope.

Looking forward to this, just hoping for something better than same iPods, with cameras, and same iTunes, now with Facebook support

maybe we will see weird ipod commercials with 1950's music!

we need to see an itunes commerical like

the "viva la vida" one!

in may 2008, during american idol :D

Predictions:

(1) iTunes 9 - 64 bit / social features
(2) Quicktime X released to all iTunes users (ie. Intel, PPC, and Windows)
(3) Cocktail - possibly
(4) iPod Touch - 3gs chipset and Video Camera w/ mic...no GPS (next year), at 16/32/64 gig capacities
(5) iPod Nano - Larger screen w/ Video Camera, 16/32 gig capacities
(6) iPod Classic - Same design, possible Camera as well, 120 gig unless a 160 is available
(7) Apple TV 3.0 + new Hardware

No Beatles. No Tablet.

I just dont know what they will do with the classic if they dont redesign it it will be the first time ever that an ipod kept the same design for more than 2 years.

AppleTV software update 3.0, please. Stop shoving the iTunes store in my face and allow me to easily access my local and networked media without burying it in the menu. And sprinkle some of that Snow Leopard optimizations on the latest update, it's hella slow.

Time to retire the scroll wheel, or make it an option to go virtual for the old-timers when you make all iPods with a full-size LED/OLED display.

I also don't see anything wrong with combining the full-featured design of the iPod touch with the hard drive sizes of the iPod Classic. iPod touch with 320GB or 500GB hard drive? Sweetness.

iTunes 9, please. My library of iPhone applications is making my iMac like it's dragging its heels through the mud. Overall, it's just as slow as my AppleTV 2.4.

Lastly, give me some incentive to drop my cable TV provider. Maybe my math is no good, but I still can't justify $3 per Lost episode. How about renting TV episodes? I know I'm not going to watch them repeatedly. Hell, throw in advertising that I'll pay to remove.

Hoping for iTunes 9 and awesome new iPod. If no new iPod features, other than a camera. I'll grab a Zune HD on the 15th.

But I would really like to see Apple out do the Zune with something great!

Upgrade the Apple TV to be less buggy and have some of the features of the WD TV and I'll buy it in a second.

iTunes 9 will be great. Here's hoping for 64 bit.

I really hope we get Steve Jobs too! :D
