i just ordered my first mac. its an emac with 256 ram. i have some older pc2100 from my pc that i would like to use in the emac. is this possible? i cant find anything about using 2100 in 2700. only the other way around. please help

PC2700 is the "slowest" memory you can use in that machine.

Anything slower won't work in a Mac, since the Macs use the SPD EEPROM and would recognize that it is too slow (I think).

You may be able to get away with this type of overclocking in a PC, sometimes, but not in the Macs usually.

thanks for the help. im not looking for overclocking really. i just want to have the extra 512 ram without giving it away to my family, who wont really put it to use.
