Navigon Question - Map Question

Im just wondering does Navigon work with data or without? As in are the maps stored on the iphone or does it need to download data always like the Maps application on the iphone?

If not what other applications do this or is there even applications that do this? And how well do they perform?

If you do a search, or go to Navigon website this is answered. Maps are stored on phone - that is why Navigon is so big, and why it works so well, even without a network connection.

Well i did check their website and i saw this line

"The latest NAVTEQ map material (onboard navigation, no subscription fees)"

But i wasnt quite sure if thats what that meant.

Is Navigon the only app that does that? Or does TomTom also do that?

Navigon and TomTom both have local maps.

Navigon works without a need of data connection. The reason why the app has a huge file size is because of the maps integrated on the app itself, thereby you're downloading the maps to your iPhoe. No need to download data always unlike the Map application.

Other TBT apps do these as well, you'd notice their 1GB+ file size immediately. Some of which are CoPilot, TomTom, iGo, etc..
