Imac Memory Upgrade suggestions.

I know nothing about the interior of computers. However I would like to upgrade my ram. I have 2gb and max is 4gb.

What 4gb ram should I be looking at. which products have worked great for you. thanks a bunch everyone who responds.

I just purchased this.

What model iMac do you own? (About this mac > More Info > Model Ident🙂
Mine is iMac 8,1, and Apple claims max of 4GB 800MHz DDR2.
 
Also once the ram is installed should i do a fresh install of the operating system are will it be ok without one
