Networking on a Mac

I know macs have no problem using a windows network, but I was curious about home networking with other PCs. On my home network, can I share folders between a Mac and PC? For example, when I get my PB, I want to transfer all my music from this computer to the new one over the network. Can I do that? It's easy to do over two PC's, I just simply share the folder. But will that work between my PB and PC?
