Folks,

I'm helping my class out by converting some old cassette tapes to digital. I'm importing using my iMac's line in with a mini plug to RCA's to the tape player. I'm running 3 GB RAM and Snow Leopard with nothing else but Safari open.

I've imported the files fine and verified the track by listening/viewing, but after selecting quality for MP3 export to disk, Garage Band crashes every time. The file size is estimated at 256 MB in higher, or 172 MB in high quality. The program crashes when I export either to a folder on the desktop or the Garageband folder. Also, I've tried burning to CD, although I get a window saying the file is too large for the disk capacity (even though the CD is a 700MB blank).

Edit: I also just tried exporting to AAC with same results.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!
