Hello,I'm having problems installing OSX Puma on my iMac G3 233 Mhz,PPC with 160MB RAM and a 4GB HD.I have disks for OS 9 and I reinstall it with no problem,but when it come to upgrading just too 10.1 it won't let me and says can't make cd start up disk.Oh,I'm also doing this on a eternal DVD drive my cd drive in the mac is dead.Can someone help??

It's probably not going to boot off of that drive, at least that model won't.
IIRC, there was a similar problem with early OSX and some software using external DVD drives where the drives couldn't be used as boot drives.

Ok,thanks,I did boot the OS 9 of that drive but OSX won't work.

Just want to clarify, it's the early Unix based OSXs that have the problem handling some external DVD drives.
9.1 for example can be installed on a large number of models from even another computer's drive at times.

But I'm a little rusty on the old OS's now.
