I am going in to my final year of Typography at Reading Uni (UK) and have chosen to look at favicons. I got really interested in their function and design, specifically, their role with regards to navigation. The problem is the lack of source material available for such a relatively recent development. So i was just wondering if anyone out their had read any good books - articles on favicons, icon design or web navigation in general?
p.s. Are their any web designers out their who design their own favicons/use favicons extensively, and have a strong opinion/criticism regarding their design/function/use, and would be tolerant enough to allow a very humble student to email them some questions/record their opinions? pm me if their are. thanks in advance
