Don't lecture me on backing stuff up, but I have an external FireWire Hard Drive with important work on that I *have* to get hold of!

Running Disk Utility gives me the following error (the disk is partitioned into two drives):

Repairing disk for “disk5s9”
Volume check failed.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)

Repairing disk for “disk5s10”
Volume check failed.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)

Repair attempted on 2 volumes
0 HFS volumes repaired
2 volumes could not be repaired

Would something like Diskwarrior be useful?? Any help and advice gratefully recieved!

What does the drive do when you plug it in? Does it mount? Can you access any folders? Any other messages before you get to Disk Utility?

i just had a problem with one of my partitions not mounting on an external fiwi drive... bought diskwarrior (100 bucks) and it fixed it with a directory rebuild...
