I have this iTunes smart playlist called 'Recently added' synced to my iPhone. (It's not the default iTunes playlist, I deleted that one when I first used iTunes and re-added it later myself)

At first I didn't have any criteria, except: Limit to 200 songs selected on date added.

In iTunes, the playlist showed up fine ... my 200 most recently added songs, from new to old.
On my iPhone, 200 random songs were showing, no new ones at all.

Then I added: Date added must be in the last 2 months.

In iTunes, nothing changed, still perfect.
On my iPhone, the 200 most recent songs were showing, but in the wrong order. Old ones at the top, new ones at the bottom.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Smart Playlist wrong on iPhone 3G

I am also facing the same problem.

The order in "My Top Rated" smart playlist changed on my iPhone as I updated to iTunes 8.2.1 and now my "Recently Added" playlist is also incorrect since I updated to iTunes 9.

Both Smart Playlists are perfect and correct on iTunes but as I sync it to my iPhone 3G, the list on my iPhone is completely incorrect (wrong songs/wrong order).

Someone please help me out with this problem !

Similar problem. My top most played smartlist is fine on iTunes but the song list is actually from recently added on the iPhone. Strange. I've already deleted the playlist, added a new one. The new one is also perfect in iTunes and wrong on the iPhone.

Found a workaround..Just uncheck live updating in the smart playlist...works for me...

Just tried it, seems to work for me too!

Thanks!

Does anybody know what effects disabling that option will have? Because nothing changed in my smart playlist (so far) ..

I always assumed that it meant that the playlist would turn into a stagnate playlist, no more updating in the future as songs become old or new ones get added in your case.

**upon further inspection** that is exactly what Live Updating is.

So the playlist pretty much becomes useless in iTunes?

So it would be best to have 1 WITH live updating for use in iTunes and one without live updating for use on the iPhone, correct?

Found it

there is a "sort by" thing when you right click on the smart playlist and edit it.
just go, sort by last added or something, it works.
