Instead of 3G or E, I get a circle

Just a small circle. What exactly does this mean? That 3G or E are unavailable?

I can get up to 3 bars with this circle remaining.

Lol, I wouldn't feel too bad about it.

Here in The Netherlands we don't even have Edge, only 3G and GPRS. Now the killer is, I've rarely got 3G, so most of the time seconds/minutes are slowly ticking away before my iPhone is able to bring up a webpage because of the nasty GPRS connection 🙁.

EDGE isn't even that great in the UK 🙁 GPRS feels faster on some webpages 😱

EDGE downloads at 6 kb/s, GPRS at 1 kb/s, 3G is 50 kb/s at its worst. 🙁
