HOW TO: Install Official MMS on Jailbroken iPhone 3G/3GS (3.0-3.0.1)
Feel free to sticky this thread:
WINDOWS VERSION 1. Download this carrier update file (v5.5) http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/29849/ATT_US.ipcc (5.5 Official Carrier File) http://projectdownload.googlecode.com/files/ATT_US.ipcc (5.5 Official File alternate link) IF YOU WANT MMS/TETHERING/AND VISUAL VOICEMAIL http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5QLYW0PL (ATT_US_STEALTH.ipcc 6.0ipcc) MUST BE ON 3.0/3.0.1 *Tested and working in my 3.0.1 3GS* 2. Close iTunes (if it is already open) 3a. Click Start > Run > type:cmd then press enter. Run this command: "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 3b. (If you're on x64 Windows) Click Start > Run > type:cmd then press enter. Run this command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 4. Open iTunes. 5. Hold the shift key while clicking update under your iPhone in iTunes. 6. Change the file type to “iPhone Carrier Configuration files” by clicking in the the bottom right corner and switching to *.ipcc. filetype 7. Find the file of the carrier update you just saved to your computer in step 1, select it and click open. 8. Your iPhone is now updated. Make sure to reset your phone, and when it restarts, MMS should be working. Mac/OS X Instructions 1. Close iTunes. 3. Open the Terminal Application and run this command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE 4. Open iTunes 5. Hold the Alt (Option) key while clicking update under your iPhone in iTunes. 6. Find your file of the carrier update you downloaded and select it. 7. Wait for the update. Once it’s done, turn off your iPhone and turn it back on. 8. Your iPhone is now updated and MMS should be working fine. Troubleshooting: Those receiving the 0xE800003D error: Did you install a carrier theme from Cydia? Like the AT&T logo or MakeitMine? If so remove that and try again. It seems that others before were getting that error because of this.

Try it again, Make sure to copy and paste the command exactly as you see it. (Include the quotations)

This didn't work for me or my wife's 3GS. We had the BenM ICC profiles on our phones for tethering. We tried applying the MMS ICC without uninstalling the BenM ICC, and while we had the option to send MMS now, it fails each time with a red !. We then uninstalled the BenM ICC and tried sending each other MMSs, and it still fails.
We're both JB 3.0. BTW, the ICCs were applied in iTunes with no issue on a Mac, but MMS just doesn't work. |

On OS X.5.7, iTunes 8.2.1 and iPhone JBed 3.0 I am not able to select either the .zip file downloaded, nor the bundle extracted in the file dialog in iTunes. They are both grayed out.
Do I need to upgrade something? Last edited by Nanook : Sep 25, 2009 at 02:42 PM. |

For the people that it's not working for, Where you guys already using another hacked ipcc? Maybe you have to find a way to reinstall the original ipcc and then upgrade that way.
Just did it on my 3GS and my girls 3G. Both are sending MMS just fine

There shouldn't be any zip folders downloaded. There's just the ipcc.

Trying to replicate the error on my end. What iTunes are you using? Windows, or Mac? Also what phone do you have? After installing the cmd prompt, did you guys restart itunes?

Getting this same error but I'm trying this now from my work pc which I've never synced my iphone to.
I'm assuming this only works on the PC where you sync your phone to. Has anyone successfully done this on a pc that they never sync their phone to? |

I'm doing this from my PC that I always sync to and I'm getting this error. I think this error is unrelated to what PC you are on.

i dunno if anyone else did this...but when i first cut and paste the command line, i didnt copy the first " which messed up running it....noticed it and did it again with the " in the begining, works perfectly.. Now swirly MMS is acting weird....it shows up as there is a new message, but when i open it up, it says the message is NOT found...even though its in my stock SMS app.
