iPod touch Youtube Apps won't let video's play

Bought my second IPOD 3G Touch, first one had a line across screen took it back.
Have a problem with YOUTUBE APP? Once i login into YOUTUBE app and my account videos that are on don't display picture thumb on video and won't play any youtube videos?
 
It works but find it hit and miss. I guess it depends on the server, sometimes i can't login but my safari browser can load youtube and sign in but not play videos.

Also can i save videos on the touch and later playback while offline. Is there a free APP that does it or do i need to jailbreak the dam thing.
