I'm about to get my hands on a G4 Mac Mini and want to connect it up to my TV. Unfortunately it's not a HDTV, so connecting it is not straightforward.

The solution will be to purchase the DVI > S-Video adapter, and then get an S-Video > SCART adapter, although from what i've read the quality won't be brilliant.

So I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried using a VGA > SCART cable with this set-up, whether it was successful, and if the quality was any good?

Thanks.

It should look roughly equivelant to S-Video.

It'll look as good as anything else on that TV. Good for watching movies, sucky for reading text.

I have a G4 Mac mini - well I did have, its at my sisters house now, connected to a 32" CRT TV (not a HDTV also) and I have the Mac mini hooked up by DVI --> SVideo straight into the back of a SCART connector in the back of the TV. The screen resolution I find works well is 800x600 - although it does get a bit stretched. I also use the Accessibility Zoom option when I want to browse the net, or simply increase the font size. Its no way near as clear as displaying at say 720p on an LCD TV, but playing movies and DVDs back on it is fine. Plus its great for having friends over and laughing at stupid youtube videos, or getting them to choose the music.

The perfect response - thank you!

I just like the idea of having Spotify available in my living room through the TV, although an upgrade to 10.4 will be required...
