According to reports, the first of the dual 2.5GHz PowerMacs have begun shipping and demo units can already be found at some retailers.

Apple first announced the Dual 2.5GHz PowerMacs in June but initial estimates expected units to ship in late July.

Aside from some early Cinebench benchmarks there have not been many hands on reports of the new top end PowerMac.

oh man, i gotta check out that liquid cooled technology ... and while I'm at it, see if the 2.5's are using 10.3.5.

on my way to an apple store.

Unless you ordered the nVidia 6800 Ultra

I guess I'll have to grin and bear it for another month since my 2.5GHz G5 awaits it's video card.

You've seen a G5 2.5D in a store? Rumors were they were going to ship with 10.3.5, is why I am asking.

But anyone think it would be worth adding the 23inch display WITH a 6800 card - I mean after spending all that money a normal monitor would sorta be a waste?

One thing puzzles me... My order status does not signify my g5 shipped. It could be because of the card but, can't they just ship it out and the card later.

I don't think it is shipping yet... at least you can't buy it from the Apple store and the Motion pages still say "this summer"

That Nvidia 6800 Ultra board is an AMAZING GPU, a generational leap. Yes it can drive two 30" displays, but that's not what you're paying for when you pay the $450 to upgrade to a 6800 Ultra. You're paying for a LOT of graphics power on ANY display.

i hope so, they say that the new cooling system should significantly reduce fan noise. Although, I work with a dual 2.0 at work and it really isn't that noisy.

Has anyone confirmed this rumor??? Because I just called Apple and they said that NONE of the dual 2.5's shipped yet and they are not expected to ship until July 30.

Any ideas?
