iPhone 3G jailbreak!

I just got an iPhone 3G 16GB from someone. It was restored to its default stage (like if you were to open the box)

I used this tutorial to jailbreak on Windows. I have the latest iTunes.

Is this right? I am in the process of doing it. Do I just insert my sim card after everything and it will show I am on T-Mobile?

Everything went perfectly fine.

I have Cydia on springboard.

However, I inserted the t-mobile sim card but on the top left side, where it's suppose to show the carrier, all I see is a few dots (as in the bar) but no carrier.

Do I have to unlock now? I did the 3.0 firmware.

You have to install Ultrasn0w. That's the Carrier unlock.

Did the phone ever have 3.1 on it? If it ever did then you can't use Ultrasn0w and have to wait for a new version.

No. It had 3.0 on it but that was from an original restore.

Can I use the following instruction to install the Ultrasn0w?

Steps to Unlock iPhone 3G OS 3.0 with UltrasnOw

1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
3. Run Cydia or Icy
4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or icy
5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
