Fusion/parallels Blu-ray?

Is it possible to put in a Blu-ray drive in the new 2.26 Octo with something like 8 or 12 gigs of ram and run fusion or parallels and play a Blu-ray movie? That would be a pretty sweet way to play a blu-ray movie on a Mac. Would you run into HDCP problems or something? Not having to restart to play a blu-ray movie would be amazing!

I don't know for sure but I doubt it. I don't think either one virtualizes bluray, it might just show up as a DVD drive.

I'm not sure if you can make it work via VM, but it's been done natively in Windows. But it will depend on if the hardware (monitor for example) supports HDCP.

Search the forum, as this has been asked/answered before.

No it doesn't work. At least not for me. I have a bluray burner (LG GGW-H20l) in my macpro. I can watch bluray movies on windows 7 through bootcamp. But it doesn't work on fusion. I can't really tell you the reason but the application (Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 ultra, which is an awfull buggy app by the way) doesn't even start.

No. Blu-Ray will not play in OSX. You must boot to winblows.
