Even the website is slow these days, and I have heard lots of complaints about the availability of email services etc. "Reliable" isn't a word I'd associate with Spymacs services I'm afraid, which is a shame, I used to really like Spymac.

I haven't tried it, either. I pretty much stopped going at the big "3.0" reveal. Too many graphics (cheesy graphics), too little news, site became *way* too slow... Since then, I've been back twice. I may never go back. There's nothing there for me.

I'm with edesignuk on this. I have their 1GB email service -- was even looking at using it as my primary account. The service is so slow that I gave up after a week. Perhaps if they get some revenue in they can afford more servers.

Or, perhaps they reserve or prioritize bandwidth for paying customers.

I signed up last week and sent myself a 7 meg test message. The next time I checked my mail, I got an error message. Had to report it twice (about 14 hours apart) before it was fixed. My test message never showed up. Sent one that was about 4 megs and it came through fine. Then they changed their interface and my messages were gone. Then the messages were back. I've also noticed that POP access is pretty sketchy. Several times a day, I'll get an error message because my mail client was unable to connect to spymac's server.

On the plus side, it's free and they provide POP access, web space, and picture galleries. I just don't think I'll ever use it as a primary mail drop.

Spymac 3.0 killed Spymac, imho

I've had the standard Spymac package since early May, and "sketchy" is indeed a good word for their e-mail service; one certainly shouldn't depend on it for time-critical delivery, as I have seen messages not get to me for as long as 3 days after they were sent. I'd say about 70% of the time for me, e-mail is sent and received as fast as any other service... but even still 70% is not good for one's main address.

One nice feature is the 100MB webspace. Though I haven't thoroughly tried it out, the webspace is accessible via WebDAV, which can be convenient for some (provided the service is more reliable than their e-mail). You do have to wade through some additional red tape, though, before the webspace is enabled.

As for the Wheel service, it does look intriguing, yet their poor reputation for reliability taints what would otherwise seem to be a good service. I'll personally be waiting it out for a while, to see if they can resolve some of their reliability issues.

well...

i like the free service spymac gives you. 1 GB of email storage etc. and absolutly free! i dont think spymac wheel is much different from what i have seen so ill keep the free service.

ofcourse the word "free" has something to do with it...
