Playlists not acting as before?

My 4g nano had a neat feature - when I setup playlists that included a "playcount = 0", they would nicely disappear from that playlist on the ipod when they were done playing. It kept everything organized nicely, and I wouldn't accidently start a podcast I'd already finished.
With my 5G, this does not seem to happen any more.
Has apple reduced functionality on the 5G?
It seems it has.. unless anyone has a workaround for this apparent gaff on the part of apple software developers.
What's up with all these software bugs in the 5G? This is the 3rd software error I've discovered in less than a week!
Yikes!
