macOS Getting an app to automatically open at startup

Hi,
I'm rather new to programming, but I have a pretty good application that I want to be installed using a separate installer. The app must then automatically start at startup (I know this is possible, iStat and microsoft apps do it). I would really appreciate any help you could give.
