Whats your Windows Experience Index

Hi all,

I'm interested in the 'Windows Experience Index' on your Macs in either Vista or Windows7?

I'd especially be interested in the index results for a Macbook Pro 13" 2.53GHz as I have just ordered one!?

Bear in mind the WEI is very general method of evaluating one's machine, and it not an accurate indicator of a machine's true power. It can't replace a proper benchmarking app (even then, real benchmarking apps don't compare to real-world scores).

My point is take whatever score it gives you with a grain of salt.

The only thing I found that uses this are games. The purpose is to give an average user (non-hardcore gamer) some idea of how well it should run. Games that support WEI have a minumum and recommended rating. You can view it by opening the games folder, selecting a game and on the right pane select the performance tab. I think of it as the minimum/recommended requirements that is printed on the box except without the technical jargon. I imagine some games probably have the WEI printed on the box as well.
 
Yeah, I'm aware it's ultimately a dumbing down of system requirements for your average consumer but the breakdown of results do give a basic indication of your computers performance, I was really just interested as to how a Macbook would handle Windows Aero in comparison to my current laptop.

My MBP 15" has a Windows Experience of 5.5 running in Boot Camp. I have the dual graphics processors - 9400 and 9600GT. Aero will not function running in Parallels.

My 2.66 mbp only has a score of 5.2 - it says graphics card 9600 scores 5.1 and hence brings it down. u installed newer nvidia drivers?
 
My Late 2008 MBP scores a 5.3, lowered by the 9600GT 512MB. The next lowest is the CPU at 5.9 and HDD at the same (7,200rpm).
 
My 27" iMac scores a 6.1 because the hard drive information exchange is 6.1 other wise it would be a 6.6

My MBP is about 6.1 all around (except in the HDD department, which brings everything down to a lousy 5.1). This is with 4GB RAM and a 8600M GT 512MB.
 
With the new graphics driver and a seagate 7200 hdd my score has 'jumped' to 5.9 - with the lowest component being the HDD

Certainly not getting an SSD to boost my score but break my bank
