Windows XP / 7 Mac install
My friends has a 2007 macbook pro, he would like windows xp or 7 installed on the machine instead of mac os x, is this possible without using a 3rd party application, so the machine simply boots in windows?

I'm fairly sure you need an OS X install, if nothing else to install any firmware updates. But you can make the OS X partition as small as possible and leave the rest for Windows.
