Are there any recommendations on tools to clear caches and wipe old files. In particular - I have noticed that my mail cache continues to grow daily and each time I do a virus scan there are more files to scan - not a big problem, just an irritant.

I'm pretty sure you can use Cache Out X 4.0.1 to clear caches. I think you can wipe old files in disk utility.
Thanks, and I can clear the internet cache's the one that is building up and I am not sure what to do other that find it on the HD and delete manually - is the mail cache - it does not look like it has ever cleared and I am not sure if it is the email themselves in the cache or just remnants -
