Other than the price, why would I choose your Twitter client over, say, Tweetie. Im running Tweetie 1. Why should I download your application and use it over Tweetie? What makes you better?

Speed for one. If you like paying for every new version go for it. You're paying for a lot of features and fluff that most people only use a 1/4 of. With all of these extra features that you're not using especially in version 2 of Tweetie you increase the size of the application executable which causes you to not have enough room for that new album you're trying to purchase and launching/using the app is slower.

You didnt add 1 single thing that said why yours is better, only how theirs is worse. I will not be buying your app, and I will encourage others to do the same, unless you can back your app up, instead of tearing others' down.

It looks good, but I think there are too many Twitter apps.... And once people have a preference, it's hard to make them switch.

I think it comes down to whether the developer move forward with the service they are promoting by creating their app. As Twitter continues to grow and add new features it will be up to developers to implement these into their apps and those that do will more than likely stay around as long as these additions are done in a smart and useful way.

Speed because even if you have two apps that use the same connection method doesn't mean that they will perform those requests to the service at the same speed. If you have many tweets or are loading a long list of followers, etc it is how the code is written to handle this using that said connection method. You are right that a lot of it has to do with the connection and the way Twittle's code is written to handle connecting to the Twitter service is faster than many Twitter apps. Refreshing timelines is faster than the apps I've compared mine to, connection speed upon initial load is too. Obviously this is not going to be something like comparing running Vista on a slow PC versus OS X 10.6 on a Mac Pro but every second counts especially with users that want to just load the timeline check it and go onto the next app or even switching to a different timeline within the app.

You have no idea what you are talking about and are just making things up. Tweetie 2 is 1.0MB, got that? What room are you frakin talking about?

And who said you have to pay for EVERY new version of Tweetie? Since Tweetie 1.- there have been around 6 updates that were free till 2.0 was released. Also Tweetie is pretty damn fast.

Your app on the other hand looks like, well, twitterfon....1 year ago. I don't mind you promoting your app but spreading FUD about another app (which happens to be one of the best pieces of software written for the iPhone) really pisses me off.

I think people need to cut him some slack here. The second post in this thread specifically asked him to compare his app to others then threw out Tweetie as an example. Then he got bashed for answering. Seems like a setup to me.

Try the app or don't. There's no need to pick on him for answering a question.

Thanks, not trying to bash on any apps just comparing. All of the Twitter apps are great because they help improve and expand the Twitter platform by making the use of this service more accessible and portable.

Take a chill pill, dude. He was specifically asked to compare his app to Tweetie, so he did. It's funny how the same people who complain about developers not being responsive, are usually the ones who rip on the developers who are here trying to interact with their user base.

Don't like his app - move on and stick to your Tweetie. But no need to rip on the devs who stick their neck out to post in the public forums.

This is not a bash. But I won't be getting your app. The simple reason being - I have 3 twitter accounts I need to "manage" and require an app that can have multiple accounts.

Every new version? The only reason tweetie 2 costs money is because he completely rewrote the app from scratch to take full advantage of 3.0. That is a lot of effort put toward his app. Why pay $0.99 or however much you are going to charge when you change "launch price" when you can buy tweetie for $2.99 and get a ton of features and speed? Also, echofon is free and can do everything yours does and more.
