I haven't noticed any content disappearing. I'll update nonetheless.

Have noticed some weird characters appear instead of the actual names of tv shows etc.
I didn't get this email though..

Wow! OSX Snow Leopard killing data when using the guest account and Apple TV 3.0 data loss. Get your act together Apple.

There was a quirk though: my LP's were updated and in Peter Gabriel's So+, the music videos wouldn't play through the LP -- only via the tv interface -- but the music would.
I don't expect that to come with this point.point release though. It's probably just a fix for that critical bug they found.

Glad to know Apple tries to fix bugs as fast as possible.
Talk to the Mac OS team, not Apple TV team. They are separate and release separate updates.

Lost content
I too lost my content about 3 days ago. I wasn't sure what to make of it. It has not happened since but I'm glad to know Apple fixed whatever it was.

Anybody updated to 3.01? Did it do the trick?
Anybody got the update yet? Is it a "it just works" fix, or do you still have some issues? The biggies like missing movies should be easy to see and play (again).
My 3.0 problem showed all the streaming content like movies as usual, but none could be played. You clicked them and it would look like they were about to stream over, but they wouldn't. When I checked iTunes, and the movie list in the drop down under Apple TV, it was blank. Historically, the list of all streamed movies would be there ghosted/grayed out. My guess is that 3.01 should make them playable again on any Apple TV with this problem, as well as put them back in that list in iTunes. So I'm still sitting at a reverted 2.4, awaiting someone giving a "it just works" again for this particular kind of (apparently common) issue. Jerky Menus
Has anyone else notice the menus acting kind of jerky after updating to 3.0.1? That and scrolling text is also jerky.
And, yes, I also lost all my content. Last edited by obutrumpet : Nov 7, 2009 at 06:33 PM. |

The Apple TV always seem to be so buggy.
I wish Apple would care a bit more about it. It could be a wonderful product. When it works it really is a great way to watch my iTunes media. |

I think it is buggy largely because of the outdated hardware. I don't think it can handle all the tasks the Apple TV has to perform.

Apple has more updates(fixes) and security updates these days than Microsoft.
Makes me wonder?

LOL More "vanishing" data.
Not even the Apple TV is safe.

Interesting that the email says the first step to updating your Apple TV is to restart it

ANYONE with 3.01: If 3.0 had content showing- but not playing- is it working now? If you synced some content and streamed others, can you get both types to play? |
