iPod touch Help: No display on ipod touch 2g

Ive had my ipod for roughly 3mnths and now I there is no display. The device is showing a black screen with a backlight. I have tried charging and connecting to the computer and it just makes jingle like when its on charge.

I am new to apple products. How do I fixed this problem?
